As a Graduate Safety within Anglo American you will learn how to deliver best practice safety services and support to the mine. You will support our Zero Harm vision, ensuring compliance with all safety systems and legislation. This is a permanent opportunity for graduates who want to have a smarter future within mining. Initially, you will be offered a two-year graduate programme with Metallurgical Coal rotating to one or more of our sites located across Queensland (two twelve-month placements). You have the chance to make a difference in real projects and work across the open cut and underground mining.

If you are ready to make the most of everything you’ve learned so far, ready to be challenged, ready to work together with industry leaders, be a part of a supportive environment and a vibrant Graduate community and ready to take the first step towards a successful career in the mining industry, Anglo American is ready for you.

To qualify for the Anglo American Graduate Programme, you must:

  • Have a degree or postgraduate degree (Honours or Masters) in disciplines relevant to Safety (Safety, Incident Investigation, Human Factors, Risk Management or similar).
  • Have completed your degree within the last 2 years or are due to graduate by December 2023
  • Have no more than two years of relevant work experience.
  • Be a team player with strong leadership potential.
  • Demonstrate drive, ambition and a passion for challenging work in our operations.
  • Be available/willing to work in remote areas of Central Queensland as part of the Graduate Programme (relocation package provided).

What to Expect

  • The first stage of the recruitment process is a review of your CV.
  • Should you pass the initial screening stage, you will be invited to complete an on-demand video interview and game-based psychometric test where we will test your motivations and competencies for the role.
  • The next stage will be a phone interview with one of our Recruiters.
  • Then if successful you will be invited to our Assessment Centre with all the potential candidates.

Background checks

Successful candidates will be required to complete background screening which may include a criminal check and validation of qualifications.
