How flexible is your company when it comes to hours?
Spending 2 hours on travel just makes me tiring and also makes the day look longer.
Graduate, Townsville - 12 Aug 2024
Site hours are 6:45am to 5:15pm. There is flexibility if there is a need to leave earlier for appointments or the like. Site hours should be adhered to so that proper experience is gained and all items can be completed before work begins the next day.

BMD is extremely considerate and flexible with everyone. For me, I am able work around my footy training and travel requirements when needed.

Industry standard is 7-5 (10 hours) but there is an expectation to work longer. There is also Saturday shifts without compensation.

It is not that I have asked for different schedule or anything at all but the regular hours per day is over 10.

Full day working hours, otherwise company is flexible with other other inconveniences
Graduate, Darwin - 30 Jul 2024
The work hours are long but there never seem to be enough hours in the day to get all the work completed. The flexibility of the work hours depends on the managers and their preferred work styles, but more flexibility in terms of work from home abilities would be appreciated.

If we are in site, we need to start 6.45am and can finish around 5.30pm. And if we work in office, its flexible. And there is no possibility of work from home.
Graduate, Perth - 29 Jul 2024
The working hours can be quite demanding, which sometimes makes it challenging to maintain a work-life balance.
Graduate, Brisbane - 29 Jul 2024
Most days i come in 6:30 until 5. some fridays/RDO'S we'll leave an hour earlier. we do a saturday shift once a blue moon and night shifts where required. but the tough shifts are split between the engineers equally.
Graduate, Melbourne - 29 Jul 2024
My work hours are meant to be 8-5. The companies flexibility lets me start early allowing me to work 7-4.
Graduate, Perth - 29 Jul 2024
The flexibility is good in the sense that there are no qualms from colleagues with having to leave early or arrive late if you've got something on, like a dental appointment, but the standard working day is 10 hours, and you're paid for 8. In a management role, I can imagine it being easier to stomach having to work 25% extra and not be paid for it, but we're already paid below the median wage in Australia for our position. When you calculate a Grad Engineer's hourly rate based off the hours we actually work, its terrible.

I usually get to work at 6:30 and leave between 5:15 and 5:30, i enjoy working these hours. i do not enjoy working weekends. the company is not very flexible with work hours as we are expected to work between 7-5 everyday and have set Saturday rosters.

Working Hours: 6:45am to 5pm. However, depends on the Project Manager we are allowed to finish a bit earlier if needed.
Graduate, Adelaide - 08 Jul 2024
Tasked based hours. However, the role involves being able to resolve issues that arise which does not end until everyone is off site.

I am based in the Brisbane office and work here full time. If I ever need to leave early an afternoon or need to work from home one day my manager is flexible and allows me to do this.
