Hamilton City Council makes decisions that impact the future of our city and the wellbeing of Hamiltonians every day. We do a lot to keep the city running the way it should. We provide and maintain water services, make sure waste is disposed of safely, plan and deliver for the future of our growing city… and that's just the start. The scale of what we do is massive and it's the drive and passion of our team that make it happen.
Working with Council, you'll have the chance to impact the city, embrace challenges, and grow your career as part of our high-performing team. We're made up of more than 1200 staff spread across more than 20 sites, but we're united by a common purpose – to improve the wellbeing of Hamiltonians.
We have an exciting new graduate programme with a wide range of specialised graduate opportunities across our business. The programme runs for two years with new recruits starting with Council in February 2022.
We are looking for graduates who are passionate, enthusiastic, and driven – ready to learn and thrive in their chosen profession. Our programme offers the opportunity to learn from the best while developing your skills and experience before you are appointed a permanent role with the Council at the end of the programme.
During your first month, you will participate in a robust orientation programme that will set you up to succeed. You will be set up with a buddy and a non-technical mentor to ensure you are well supported during the two-year programme. Regular graduate recruitment days will also be held to help you stay connected with your fellow graduates across other areas of the Council.
These are paid roles, with salaries beginning at 65% of the industry standard for your profession.
We have the following opportunities for our first intake of graduates for 2022:
