Wayne Ho

I’m currently involved in several client engagements, so this is where we align on progress, challenges, and any upcoming deadlines. Today, I’m working on a cyber maturity assessment for a client, so my morning is spent reviewing reports, analysing data from vulnerability scans, and preparing recommendations for the client.

7.15 AM
I kick off my day around 7:15 AM. I start with a cup of coffee while reviewing emails and catching up on industry news. It’s my time to ease into the day, organise my thoughts, and prepare for what’s ahead.

8.30 AM
On days when I’m in the KPMG office, I arrive and grab a hot desk. I usually catch up with my team here in Adelaide over coffee to kickstart the workday, which is a great way to share updates, plan the day informally and catch up on how everyone’s day is going.

9.00 AM
My day often begins with a team stand-up meeting.

11.00 AM
Mid-morning usually involves client meetings, either virtual or in-person. These sessions are crucial for understanding their needs and ensuring our cyber advice align with their business objectives. Today, we’re reviewing the results of a risk assessment and how they align with the Essential 8 framework.

12.30 PM
Lunch is a great chance to unwind and catch up with colleagues. Whether I’m enjoying a meal in the office or out at a nearby spot, it’s always a pleasure to spend time with the team, exchange ideas, and share a few laughs. It’s a nice break from the workday and helps build strong connections with the people I work with.

1.30 PM
The afternoon is dedicated to more detailed project work. This includes drafting reports, building roadmaps, and working through notes taken during client workshops. Today, I’m finalising a roadmap for cyber uplift activities for a mid-market client. We’re focusing on quick wins like improving application controls and enhancing incident response processes.

3.30 PM
If time allows, I like to fit in a bit of personal development—whether it’s reading up on the latest cybersecurity trends or attending internal training. Continuous learning is a big part of my role at KPMG, and I always try to stay on top of the latest developments in the industry.

5.00 PM
Before wrapping up, I take stock of what I’ve accomplished for the day, respond to any remaining emails, and make a plan for tomorrow. If the workload allows, I might leave the office by 5:30, but I’m flexible based on client needs and deadlines.

6.00 PM
In the evening, I unwind with some downtime at home or catch up with friends. It’s important to maintain a healthy balance, especially in a fast-paced role like this.

7.30 PM
Dinner time! I like to cook a nice meal and relax, perhaps while catching up on the latest news or watching a favorite TV show. It’s a great way to relax and enjoy some personal time after a busy day.

11.00 PM
Before heading to bed, I prepare for the next day—setting out clothes, packing lunch and making sure I’m ready for a productive tomorrow. I’ll wind down with a good book or some light reading before turning in for the night.
