Your role

Metso is seeking a Graduate Product Engineer, Pumps - Digital Solutions to join their newly established digital organization. You will be responsible for working together with the product management team for the execution of engineering functions for digital product development and management such as reviewing technologies and manufacturing specs, product testing, developing monitoring functions, analyzing data, managing SAP transactions as a key user, liaising with suppliers and technical teams, and QAQC work. Your role plays a crucial part in supporting the development and scale-up of their digital service capabilities. 

This position is based in Perth, Australia. Furthermore, Metso will be happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. You will report to the Product Head of Pumps & Hydrometallurgy in their Equipment Performance team. This team works under the digital organization and collaborates with a wide and global range of people. They are driven by a new and ambitious digital strategy, aiming to scale up their condition monitoring services and build prescriptive maintenance services to use their technical expertise in supporting our customers. What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate closely with the Product Management team to provide engineering support throughout the product development and management lifecycle.
  • Develop comprehensive digital product & service testing plans and oversee product testing to evaluate performance and reliability, reviewing various solutions.
  • Manage Product Data Management (PDM) for Pumps Digital Products and associated databases, ensuring efficient data management.
  • Assist in the installation of new technology pilots and develop baseline monitoring functions to optimize product performance and functionality.
  • Support testing, training, and development initiatives for Metso personnel to enhance product understanding and proficiency.
  • Create Bills of Materials (BOMs), Parts Lists, and corresponding product & training documentation to support project management during order execution.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities including regulatory and engineering compliance and certifications to ensure supply aligns with relevant specifications and standards.
  • Assist in the design and development/enhancement of new and existing products, addressing technical queries and non-conformance reports.
  • Analyse and evaluate product/service performance and customer feedback to generate new product ideas, and identify product/service features that need to be changed to meet customer needs. 
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in digital condition monitoring based on business targets and strategy.

About you

You will need to meet the following requirements to thrive in this role:

  • Experience in the mining and minerals processing industry is advantageous.
  • A diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated systematic mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Strong desire to embrace challenges, learn continuously, and excel in the role.
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English.
  • Capable of working collaboratively within a team environment as well as independently.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.

A better advantage if you have:

  • A good understanding of SAP, CAD software, and PDM like Team Centre/Enovia. 
  • Occasional travel to customer sites globally.
  • Experience in condition monitoring is an advantage. 
  • Expertise in research-based testing of technologies and products is beneficial.
