Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
HR is not transparent with next steps and promotions, particularly for grads.

not sure

Haven't looked into it too much as I'm still a grad but there are usually quite a few internal job openings advertised. These are usually for more senior positions. After the grad program, I know that you generally network with the teams you were in during your rotation and decide on a permanent role to go in to. After maybe a year you go from being a junior to just a mid level employee and this comes with a decent payrise. Not too sure on the leap up to senior or principle from there.

For those who know what they want and build good relationships within the business, the opportunities are excellent. The opportunities can change due to market conditions and restructuring, so fluidity is critical to success.

I have no idea

There seems to be a lot of opportunities available, and I hear about a lot of opportunities however I have had difficulty actually getting information about rotations and rolling on the grad program into full time work as a lot of the information is conflicting.

Grads are guaranteed a role at the end of the program. There are a number of ex grads within the organisation who are now sitting in director level roles. This is very encouraging and demonstrates there are internal pathways that exist within the organisation

I think there are plenty of opportunities for promotion. I think all it takes is good solid work and a strong understanding of the business.

It seems like it's not too bad to progress from a Junior to experienced engineer within a Networks, IT or Software role, but progressing further than this seems hard as from my experience there are a vast majority of people in Networks that plateau at a 'Senior' Engineer level with limited salary and role improvement opportunities, but it is hard to know at this point

I feel getting a broad range of experiences through the rotations and being able to connect and network with these different team members helps significantly with your ability to know people and find the right roles and opportunities for you. As a grad you have a good reputation and it can help you progress quicker from what I have seen.

The company sets out quite a direct career path. The company has quite a robust performance management system that is uniform, and easily understood by the whole group. This is taken into account when opportunities arise for promotion. The company is also clear on what they expect in regards to aligning and demonstrating our key behaviours. Rolling off the program, grads are offered roles in alignment with their interest, and our company currently has senior directors who used to be graduates.

There are some caps for movements (can't move up too many levels at once), some graduates really move up the ranks quickly (from graduate to director level in less than 10 years)

Following the 2 year Graduate Program (x3 rotations over 2 years), we are guaranteed a permanent position within the same BU. From here, if you remain a high potential, there is the opportunity to participate in the exchange program or look at internal mobility options. We have an internal job board where people can apply or refer others to roles. From my understanding, a lot of the career progression is about having the right people know about you & your career aspirations as there are many internal promotions.

Promotion opportunities are available when we roll off the graduate program. What it takes to move up the ranks:Being part of the right projects and being recognised for your contribution to that project. Being able to deliver financial benefit within a short amount of time.

As a Grad it is not guaranteed that I will receive a job after I finish the Grad program. But I am not stressing because I feel confident that through my network I will be able to secure something even if it is in another company. I also feel that my colleagues will help guide me in securing a job after the Grad program.

Promotion opportunities are ok.

Experience and enthusiasm, networking and going above and beyond to be recognised in your role.

Although the grad program description promises permanent roles after the program, the lack of documentation and communication has made it difficult for me to imagine what promotion after the program is like
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
Promotion opportunities are limited at the moment with a tight budget and limited vacant roles. To move up the ranks you must wait for someone to leave or move roles so that a position becomes vacant. It is rare that new roles are created.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
After the grad program we are essentially promised a permanent role, and that usually means becoming an Executive. However I've heard that progression/promotion past this is pretty time-consuming - 3+ years to become manager.
