Your role

Reporting directly to the Risk Analytics Manager, this role is responsible for identifying, modelling, and quantifying commodity risks in relation to Origin energy market trading and operations.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Understand Origin's commodity exposures. Follow existing business processes and procedures to help gather inputs and assumptions, run and maintain models, reconcile results, write report sections, and share results with stakeholders.
  • Check compliance against CRMS policies and risk limits. Work across teams to share and monitor Origin's overall risk with respect to budget and Long-Term Financial Plan benchmarks.
  • Assist the market risk team to deliver common portfolio knowledge with other teams via monthly assumptions meetings for each commodity.
  • Compile/review QA packs each month. Maintain analyst procedures, report archiving, and assist with Audits.
  • Assist to test and promote trusted models, reporting tools, dashboards, and key charts.

About you

Here’s what Origin Energy is looking for in this role:

  • You are either a recent graduate or have 6-months-1 year of experience and looking to grow your career as a business analyst.
  • You have a continuous growth and learning mindset and take it upon yourself to work on personal projects that you are passionate about sharing.
  • Analytical and numerate. Qualification in a relevant quantitative discipline e.g. finance, accounting, engineering, mathematics, computer science, etc.
  • 1 year of work experience in any field.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Skilled in Excel/Tableau or other data manipulation tools.
  • Ability to problem solve with excellent attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with an interest in the energy sector and a desire to prove analytical abilities in a professional setting.
