Your role

Bosch Australia’s Chassis Systems Control team is responsible for the development of hardware and software systems that improve vehicle safety and agility for their mostly automotive customers. Their customer base is global having engineered projects and solutions for Europe, North America, China, Japan, Malaysia and India.

Robert Bosch Australia is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Undergraduate Vehicle Dynamics Student Engineer to join their Chassis Systems Control department on a full-time basis. This role will be based at the Australia Automotive Research Centre located in Wensleydale.

You will gain valuable experience and knowledge as an integral part of Robert Bosch Australia's Chassis Systems Control team.

Some of the tasks that you will undertake with them include: 

  • Working on a variety of technologies for different vehicle types (ICE, HEV & EV) and supporting the development of Driver Assistance Systems
  • Getting to see, touch, feel, drive and engineer the prototypes of future vehicle models years before public release
  • Supporting instrumentation of development and verification vehicles
  • Supporting customers with calibration programs along with Vehicle Dynamics Calibration engineers on various activities relating to vehicle testing, including conducting performance driving tests on passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, motorcycles or other speciality vehicles
  • Supporting embedded software and systems development for Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS), Electronic Stability Programs (ESP) and other chassis control-related functions
  • Performing routine test vehicle maintenance, including parts replacement, brake bleeding, tyre changing, wheel alignment & cleaning of vehicles
  • Maintaining and repairing calibration equipment (mechanical and electrical repairs)
  • Organising and tracking test parts and equipment in the workshop, and maintaining workshop order and cleanliness to a high industry standard
  • Supporting Proving Ground (PG) supervisor with various PG operational activities

About you

You will have excellent attention to detail, have the ability to prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines, work well with teams and have excellent organisational and communication skills.

To be considered for their Student Program, you are required to meet the following criteria:

  • Be currently enrolled in and completed units towards an Engineering Undergraduate degree
  • Demonstrate good mechanical knowledge and (hands-on) skills
  • Have good vehicle evaluation and driving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Hold a valid Driver’s Licence (Manual preferred)

Desirable attributes:

  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamic theory
  • Involvement in Formula SAE (FSAE) projects
  • Hands-on experience working on mechanical or electrical projects/hobbies
  • An interest and passion to work on vehicles and test them to their limits
