About the Role

As a finance journalist you will be responsible for generating high quality content that attracts an engaged audience of users to Savings Media Group websites by producing and maintaining relevant content (e.g. guides, features, news articles, videos) that informs Australians on finance and property-related matters.

Whether you're an experienced writer, a recent graduate or a student in their final year of studies, this role is perfect for those seeking to immerse themselves in the finance and property media sector.

We can offer WFH flexibility with a mix of work being performed from home and from our Brisbane CBD office.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews to source original commentary for news, features and guides;
  • Present yourself in videos and podcasts
  • Leverage social media to amplify the reach of content;
  • Represent the brand well when approached by external media outlets (e.g. speak about your articles on radio); and
  • Produce content for other brands in the wider business when required.

About you

You will be an enthusiastic writer with a genuine interest in financial products and the Australian property market. You’ll also pro-actively monitor key trends in the media landscape and creatively apply the ‘saving lens’ to create topical content that will best suit the interests of the audience. The required qualifications and experience is detailed below:

  • Experience in an online publishing environment and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Communications/PR/Media would be very highly regarded
  • Business/Finance qualifications or experience would also be viewed favourably
  • Highly advanced, versatile writing skills to suit a variety of writing formats (news, features, educational, etc.)
  • A thorough understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter
  • SEO knowledge.
