Working a balanced 8 days on, 6 days off, with St Barbara you will gain knowledge and associated skills which are relevant to the gold mining industry and discipline specific training. You will also receive mentoring from experienced professionals, who will support your transition from University life to your professional career whilst providing regular feedback on your performance.

This role may be Fly-in Fly-out from Perth, Drive-in Drive-out from Kalgoorlie or residential in Leonora.

The Opportunity

  • Developing and maintaining up-to-date and accurate mine engineering information on the Gwalia ore bodies.
  • Reviewing mine engineering performance on a daily basis with coordination contact with mine production personnel.
  • Exposure to and training in ventilation, drill and blast and pastefill engineering duties. Coverage for leave in these roles as required.
  • Ensure mine development is in accordance with mine engineering standards.
  • Contributing to ensuring there is a comprehensive suite of ‘fit-for-purpose’ systems in place and that these are being used in the Mining Department.
  • Contributing to ensuring timely, accurate reporting within the Mining Department.
  • Taking an active role in formulating and executing Building Brilliance projects.

  • You are able to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 12 months) for site access purposes.
  • You have a current unencumbered ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering completing in 2021
  • Strong ability to work effectively within a team;
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks;
  • High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals;
